Applications are open for 1,000 new Gardaí, and will close in the middle of next month.
Commissioner Drew Harris insists the job satisfaction heavily outweighs the negative aspects of the job.
That's despite the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors warning the job is too admin-focused in recent years.
Superintendent Liam Geraghty says it's likely this kind of recruitment drive will become an annual thing:
"There's a commitment there to try establish a recruitment this year of up to 1000 members of An Garda Síochána, but also the longer term plan is that we need to get to 15,000 members of An Garda Síochána. So this recruitment campaign is the second one. We had one last year, we are running one again this year and our plan is that we will do these recruitment campaign on an annual basis, so that we have that ongoing pipeline of candidates who want to come in and join An Garda Síochána, and we're getting the best people for the job".
