The qualified solicitor is challenging the rejection of her claim to the Workplace Relations Commission on the grounds that she didn't receive a fair hearing.

Ammi Burke claims she didn’t get a fair hearing before the WRC last year when she brought a complaint of unfair dismissal against the law firm Arthur Cox.

Before the High Court today, she said the main issue to be decided related to the nature of proceedings.

She accused the Adjudication Officer of “capitulating to the pressure” of Peter Ward SC - the barrister representing her former employer.

She claimed he failed to exercise his statutory duty to inquire by refusing to call two witnesses and denying her an evidence order in relation to certain emails.

She went further, accusing Mr Ward SC of directing the Adjudication Officer to break the law – an allegation he strongly denied and demanded she withdraw.

Ammi Burke will finish presenting her case tomorrow.
