Last year saw 2,906 cases where members of the public attempted out-of-hospital cardiac resuscitation.
Almost three-quarters happened in the home, and 178 patients survived a heart attack outside a hospital.
Those figures are included in the Annual Report from the Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Register.
