Almost one in four drivers disqualified for serious offences do not have an Irish licence.
The Irish Mail on Sunday reports that over 50,000 drivers have been put off our roads between 2017 and the end of last year.
However, almost a quarter of these did not have an official licence when their details were matched against the national driver file database.
Last year a total of 8,045 motorists across the country received driving bans, of whom 76 per cent had an Irish licence.
