A thousand properties, pledged by members of the public, are starting to be allocated to Ukrainian refugees.
The Irish Red Cross says over 13-thousand people have so far been contacted, with 16 per cent withdrawing their offers.
It comes as new short-term accommodation for 300 people is set to be opened at a warehouse in south Dublin.
Chair of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown county council, Lettie McCarthy, expects refugees will be bussed from the airport to the temporary rest centre in Ballyogan;
"We will have sleeping accommodation, sanitary eating facilities all that's needed really so that people can be here for a couple of days. We would envisage that they would be here for two three days and getting themselves sorted out to go to their longer term accommodation."
