Three quarters of those who underwent obesity surgery in Irish hospitals last year, were women.
New figures show 175 people had the procedure in 2021, and only 46 were men.
The Irish Coalition for People Living with Obesity says many more people would have the surgery, if it wasn't for long waiting lists.
It's executive director, Susie Birney, says several patients are forced to take drastic action.
