A 50-year-old Dublin man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Conor O'Brien in Enfield in County Meath.

Earl McKevitt, with an address at Avondale Park in Mulhuddart, is also charged with 5 other offences after an incident at a hotel in Carlow earlier this week.

Andrew Lowth reports for RedFM News:

"Conor O'Brien, who was 19 years old and originally from Gorey in Co. Wexford, was found dead outside a house in Enfield last Friday morning.

Addressing Carlow District Court this afternoon, Detective Sergeant Lee Gavin from Trim Garda Station said Earl McKevitt was charged with Mr O'Brien's murder, to which he made no reply.

Mr McKevitt was arrested on Tuesday evening in Carlow after an incident at a hotel in the town.

At the special sitting, the court heard he was charged with 5 offences arising from that incident, including the unlawful possession of a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, six rounds of ammunition and a knife.

Mr McKevitt was granted free legal aid, and will appear before Cloverhill District Court via videolink next Friday, September 10th."
