20,000 homes and businesses have now been connected to the National Broadband network.
The milestone has been celebrated at a family farm in County Louth.
These homes and businesses now have access to guaranteed high speed internet of 500 mega bits per second.
National Broadband Ireland says 20,512 premises are connected, out of a total of 94,000 that are in a position to order a plan.
