Almost 1500 people were without a hospital bed in Cork in July
It comes as Figures for over crowding in hospitals have been released today by the INMO.
1000 people were waiting for a bed in CUH, 401 people in the Mercy were on trolleys, while 84 people were without a bed in Bantry General Hospital.
The most overcrowded was University Hospital in Limerick with nearly 1,300 waiting on a bed.
Overall figures show more than 9 thousand patients in the country went without a bed, an increase of 52 per cent on the same time last year.
Tony Fitzpatrick Director of professional services with the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says the situation is dire.
"We have patients on trolleys waiting for a hospital bed within our hospitals, we have patients in hospital who can't get out of hospital because of a lack of community services. It is a very dire picture and it's necessary that Government take all the necessary steps now to ensure that the situation is addressed."
