Over €2.6 million in grants has been awarded to help gigs and festivals take place in Cork this year

The government today announced a €25 million fund to provide money for live events to take place even with reduced attendances.

PaircLife by Indiependence will receive €264,000 and Crane Lane will get €157,000.

Cyprus Avenue has been granted €152,000, while Connolly's of Leap, DeBarras, Coughlans and City Limits Comedy Club will get between €131,000 and €104,000.

Electric Picnic, Body and Soul and Sea Sessions are among the other festivals to get funding.

The grant also includes money to hold events at the Olympia, the Gaiety and Bord Gais theatres along with funding for a number of touring circuses
