The family of a boy who was killed after being hit by a vehicle over two years ago have unveiled a memorial in Carrigaline.
8-year-old André Ladeiro was on the pedestrian crossing in August 2023 when he was fatally injured, the driver was subsequently jailed for three years for dangerous driving causing death.
Speaking to RedFM News, André's father, Cesár says his son was killed despite having the green man signal in his favour:
"With what happened we are totally destroyed, it's really tough to deal with this and you have good days and bad days. André was life but he is no longer here. So we wanted to have that somewhere and somehow in a different way than just putting a plate or plaque that André was killed, that's not André."
