Man jailed for 6 years after dangerous driving caused the death of Paudie Palmer

A 35 year old man whose dangerous driving caused the death of GAA broadcaster Paudie Palmer has been jailed for 6 years.

Bohdan Bezverkhyi  who is a native of Ukraine but has an address at Rigsdale House in Ballinhassig denied dangerous driving causing the death of Mr Palmer at Dunkereen Cross, Innishannon on December 29th, 2022.

65 year-old Paudie Palmer taught for forty years at St Brogan’s College in Bandon, and was also a columnist for The Echo along with a commentator for C103 was hospitalised after the accident and died on the 8th of January last year.

Judge Johnathan Dunphy disqualified Bohdan Bezverkhyi from driving for ten years and jailed him for seven and a half years suspending the last year and a half of the sentence.
