WHO say people’s behaviour in Europe is driving a surge in covid cases

The World Health Organisation is predicting there could be half a million deaths by next February if action isn’t taken.Dr Margaret Harris from the WHO says boosters aren’t the magic solution:

"To say simply that boosters are the only answer would be oversimplifying the matter and would be, again, putting the risk that people will only go in that direction and not take the behavioural things that really, really, really are saving lives."

The daily case figures in Ireland have been over 3000 in the past three days.

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar says they expect the case numbers to surpass 4,000 in the coming days.

The five day moving average of Covid-19 cases has increased by 47 percent in the space of a week.
