A man has been charged in connection with a corrosive fluid attack in Ballyphehane on Friday night.

34 year old John Paul Carey, of Dunmanus Crescent in Knocknaheeny in Cork City has been charged with assault causing harm to Francis Costello on Connolly Road on Friday night, contrary to Section 2 of the non Fatal Offences Against The Person Act 1997.

Ukrainian officials say Russian forces have stepped up overnight shelling of several cities.
