Russia has resumed pumping gas to Europe through its biggest pipeline, after warnings it could halt supplies altogether.
The Nord Stream-one pipeline restarted today at a reduced level.
Yesterday, the European Commission advised countries to cut gas use by 15% this autumn and winter, in case Russia switched off Europe's supply.
Germany has already reduced its dependence on Russian gas, with a view to avoiding it completely in the long term.
