Facebook insists there is 'no evidence user data was compromised' following a major outage.

The social media platform, along with Whatsapp and Instagram, went down for around six hours yesterday.

The company's blaming it on an internal technical issue.

Technology correspondent, Jess Kelly, says it has damaged the company.

"it absolutely causes repetitional damage, it causes financial damage.

"But beyond that, this is another stark reminder of the power and monopoly that Facebook has.

"It's three of the biggest tech tools in the world, all owned by the same company going down at the same time.

"This could be another argument in favour of breaking up the Facebook companies."
