The housing crisis is having a far reaching impact with people in addiction recovery struggling to find accommodation

Beds in treatment centres and step down housing are at capacity as staff try to prevent service users falling into homelessness when they leave treatment

Addiction counsellors say going into unstable accommodation after residential treatment can make it harder for people to stay clean and sober

Speaking to RedFM News Mick Devine clinical director of Tabor Group Addiction treatment service says the lack of accommodation can make it harder for people to stay clean and sober

"People are leaving the treatment environment still quite vulnerable and having to make significant changes to their lifestyle. Now, if the accommodation setting is precarious, then the chances of the good work of treatment being undone fairly quickly are pretty high, really"
