Hey Green On Red Heads!
Conor here with my ‘Pick of the Week’ – Sarah McTernan’s future-club-banger ‘Heavy On My Heart’
You may already be familiar with the Co. Clare singer who wowed the judges on The Voice of Ireland in 2015 – leaving Kian Egan, Una Healy, Bressie and Rachel Stevens all vying to be her coach before electing to go with the former S Club 7 star and finishing in third place.
Following the success of the show Sarah went on to represent Ireland at the Eurovision in Tel Aviv, Israel in 2019.
Sarah has steadily been writing, recording, producing and releasing her own music and has an innate ability for melodies destined to have party-goers throwing shapes!
Her latest song ‘Heavy on My Heart’ has all the euphoric feels of dancing your cares away and having a good time with friends underlined by the lyrical theme of removing the necessary obstacles - in order to - truly love yourself.
“A broken heart can create strength and happiness within, when you let go of the people weighing you down. It’s an anthem for anybody that has walked away from a negative situation, that are now fulfilling the best version of themselves.”
Having already released ‘Loving You’ with exciting, new, electronic duo HalfTraxx and ‘Close My Eyes’ it’s clear that Sarah McTernan has a talent for embodying a sense of what a great dance track should be and is clearly enjoying working in this space.
Sarah credits daughter, Mia, as an inspiring, driving force in her life who keeps her focused – and is influenced by P!nk, Becky Hill and the band Daughter.
Catch ‘Heavy On My Heart’ across Cork’s RedFM and join me this Sunday for the very best in new, emerging and established Irish talent on Green on Red, from 7pm.
