Limerick boss John Kiely says they'll be facing an excellent Cork side in the All Ireland Final.

The sides will go head to head in Croke Park on Sunday week, with the Rebels beating Kilkenny after extra time, while Limerick had a more straightforward win over Waterford on Saturday.

"They're a really strong side, that have a huge amount to bring to the table and they'll bring a massive challenge to us on the 22nd, and that's the way it should be - it's an All Ireland Final," Kiely told RedFM Sport at last night's pre match media briefing.

"Both teams have worked really hard to put themselves where they're at, and it's up to us now to work towards the best performance that we can produce on the day and be the best team that we can be - and hopefully that will be good enough."

Kiely says that winning back to back titles is something he's thought about, but it's not their primary focus.

"We'd have acknowledged it as being something that's there - but it's been there since the start of the year.

"Every team that goes back [as champions] has that narrative there. We've acknowledged it, it's there.

"Can we  do anything about it? No. All we can control is the controllables. We can control our performance - that's what we're going after."

One of the big talking points heading into the game is whether or not Limerick will appeal the red card handed down to Peter Casey in the semi final win over Waterford, which rules him out of the final with Cork.

Kiely says they're still deciding on a course of action, but no decision has been made made just yet.

"We got the referees report yesterday evening. We've studied that, we have 48 hours to make our minds up as to what we're going to do.

"We've another meeting after training this evening. We're going to take our time and make the right call."
