Cork are preparing for the clash with their old rivals Kerry this weekend.

The sides go head to head in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the All Ireland Championship on Saturday, Cork going into the game on the back of the win over Louth in Navan at the weekend.

Cork boss John Cleary says it was important to get off to a winning start - and his side were tested all the way.

"They went from 6 points down to a point up coming down the home straight, and we looked to be wobbling.

"But fair play to our lads, I thought they showed great resolve there. They came back and just got over the line.

"They [Louth] peppered the goal, the last 45 went in we weren't sure where it was going, the one before that I think out ghoalie got a tip to put it over the bar - it could have gone into the back of the net. Thrilled and relieved to have gotten out of here with a victory today.

"We've the All Ireland Champions and the League champions up next, the Louth game was a game that we had targeted that we might have had a chance of winning and thanks be to God we go home with the two points."
