Four men arrested in West Cork following cocaine seizure in July sent forward for sentencing

Four men arrested in West Cork following the seizure of 440 kilos of cocaine in July have been sent forward to the Circuit Criminal Court for sentencing.

The men appeared at Bandon District Court today.

Sgt Tom Mulcahy told Judge Joanne Carroll the DPP directed trial by indictment at Cork Circuit Criminal Court, or for the men to be sent forward for sentence on a signed plea of guilty in relation to the €31 million euro seizure at Meelmane, Courtmacsherry, county Cork on the 1st of July last.

40-year-old Mark Doherty from Glasgow in Scotland, 31-year-old Levent Gulay from Bavaria in Germany, 44-year-old Christoper Hibbett from Cornwall in England, and 39- year-old Ben Sandford from Moray in Scotland today submitted signed pleas of guilty to five charges each.

Judge Carroll granted each man legal aid for a senior counsel and junior counsel and sent them forward to the next sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court starting on the 10th of February.
