Fórsa trade union which represents special needs assistants says pausing the review into allocations will provide an important opportunity for the Education Minister to engage with schools and other stakeholders.
The union believes this is a chance to discuss a better way to plan and manage SNA allocations into the future.
Speaking to RedFM News school principal Martina Barry says they would appeal the decision to cut any of their SNA team as they don't understand the rationale behind it
"We were absolutely shocked, because we actually hoped to get more, because of the needs in our school and because we submitted comprehensive evidence based documentation for the review. The outcome simply does not align with the level of need in our school. We haven't received clear transparent criteria, explaining why are we losing two, we just don't know why"
