Crane Lane, Popscene and Voodoo Rooms made the announcement on social media.

The clubs say people must remain seated and won't be able to dance.

The move means patrons won't have to book a ticket one hour in advance.

Events representatives say the requirement for one metre social distancing in nightclub queues is impractical

Sunil Sharpe of the Give Us the Night campaign says the rules will be hard to enforce:

"I think it's going to be very hard to manage. It's very challenging to keep an orderly queue in a night time venue. I'd love the government to show us examples of where this has worked before, you know, because it's going to be very, very difficult."
