The Taoiseach expects a decision from the European Medicines Agency on whether to give Covid 19 vaccines to 5 to 12 year olds within the coming weeks.

Micheál Martin's comments came as the highest incidence in the country currently is in that age group.

The US Food and Drug Administration's already approved the vaccines for those children, however no decision's been made on a European level yet.

When that call is made from the EMA, it's recommendation will be referred to the National Immunisation Committee here for further analysis.
