Skibbereen is the latest town to enhance its streetscape as it recovers from the impact of COVID-19

It comes as City Hall unveiled its 'Re-imagining Cork City' plan to support the city during the pandemic.

A suite of measures has also been put in place in Skibbereen following extensive collaboration between Cork County Council and the local Town Team, as well as other community representatives including the installation of Age Friendly parking spaces, the addition of street furniture as well as street entertainment.

Cork County Council have confirmed to RedFM News they have accepted a number of applications from members of the West Cork town's business community for the placement of street furniture outside of commercial premises and licenses have been awarded on a temporary basis with fees waived for the duration of the summer season.

Local trader and owner of Honey Bee Hair & Beauty Debbie Dyas told RedFM News she managed a huge waiting list for appointments upon reopening after the COVID19 outbreak and she says the local support hasn't waivered with everyone in the town is working together to come out the other side:
