Locals in West Cork express concerns about influx of visitors amid fine weather and long weekend in midst of COVID19

Fears have been expressed by locals in West Cork who say they're concerned people will travel to their holiday homes over the long weekend in the midst of the COVID19 outbreak.

Last night Minister for Health Simon Harris confirmed that the Government has given gardaí additional powers to arrest or detain individuals who travel outside their 2km radius for non essential trips such as travelling to holiday homes or caravan parks.

Locals in Courtmacsherry say popular walkways have been inundated with people in recent weeks and they're concerned the milder weather and long weekend will increase the usage of holiday homes in the area.

Speaking to RedFM News Barry Holland of Seven Heads Peninsula Tourism says while they have done so much work to attract tourism to the area in recent years, now is not the time for visitors:
