Education Minister says the government will drop the legal requirement for people to wear masks if NPHET recommends it

The regulations enforcing the rule in shops and on public transport are in place until the end of this month.They could also become optional in schools if that's what NPHET recommends when it meets tomorrow.Education Minister Norma Foley says she believes the enhanced cleaning and hand hygiene in schools will continue while they await the advice from NPHET on mask wearing:

"Many of these measures like if you're symptomatic you stay at home, be hand hygiene and enhanced cleaning and all of that, that you know we will continue to keep that up but in relation to the masks, we will await their advice and we will follow their advice."
