Cork direct provision centre residents laid off amid fears COVID19 can't be managed in direct provision centres

It's emerged that a Cork direct provision centre resident has been laid off as a carer by a private healthcare company amid concerns that direct provision facilities are not able to implement the advised measure to curb the spread of COVID19.

It's comes after the Movement of Asylum-Seekers in Ireland say direct provision residents are going to work in nursing homes even though coronavirus is in their direct-provision centres.

Cork City of Sanctuary have expressed their outrage at this latest development and say calls to move carers and those vulnerable out of the centres has fallen on deaf ears and instead those living in the centres have been further victimised.

Roos Demol is a member of the organisation told RedFM News that she knows of five direct provision centre members who are in this position:
