BREAKING: Ryanair has announced a 170 million euro investment in Cork Airport

The low fares airline has also announced  a full recovery of it's pre-pandemic passenger capacity with the reopening of it's base at the airport.

The airline says the investment will bring 20 routes to Cork including new services to Birmingham and Edinburgh, which are unserved following the collapse of Stobart Air. Ryanair's returning routes will include Alicante, Luton, London Stansted, Bordeaux, Malaga, Gdansk, Carcassonne, Mallorca, Lanzarote, Milan (Bergamo), Liverpool, Faro, Poznan, Reus, Girona, Terefire, Gran Canaria and London Gatwick.

Ryanair says the restoration of Cork's pre-pandemic traffic for Summer 2022 will secure 60 jobs and deliver thousands of tourism jobs in the Cork Area.

The announcement was made at a press conference at Cork Airport this morning and is being attend attended by Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson and the managing director of Cork Airport Niall McCarthy.

The airport is currently closed until November 22nd while works are carried out on its main runway.
