13 year old Scarlett Beecher from Castlelyons was born with cerebral palsy and attends the School of the Divine Child in the city.

Scarlett and her mother Susan were among the crowd at a protest in the city centre at the weekend calling for more to be done to tackle long waiting lists for children's disability services.

Scarlett grew out of her last chair when she was 11 and is now using a wheelchair designed for an adult, something Scarlett's mother says is damaging her spine due to a lack of proper support.

Speaking to RedFM News, Scarlett outlines why her current wheelchair isn't right for her and says the process of getting her new chair was due to begin in July:

Scarlett's mother Susan told RedFM News that no parent should ever have to discuss their child's medical issues in public in an effort to get the proper supports:
