Cork County Beekeepers fears more Asian hornet nests will appear across the county.
Work is underway to remove a nest of the species which pose severe risk to Irish honeybees in Cobh.
It’s after the first nest which was found on the south side of the city was recently removed.
Speaking to RedFM News, Eleanor Attridge from Cork County Beekeepers says people with bees need to be vigilant:
"The problem about all this is if there are 2 nests there now, there are probably a lot more than 2, each queen would have thrown out more queens at the end of the last season and we don't know where these have come from, we don't know how long they will be around the place. The beekeepers and those working in the area need to be vigilant and get traps up in the area."
