Sarsfields Hurling Club opened the gates onto its pitch last October to save homes and businesses in Glanmire from getting flooded.

Severe damage was caused to the clubs pitch, astro pitch and clubhouse and it's not yet known when a match could be played there or how much it will cost to fix.

Speaking to RedFM News, Chairperson of Sars GAA club Keith Mulcahy says its a huge boost to see the repairs begin

"They have started work on the pitch and the astro pitches as well, the walls and fencing, all that area was badly damaged so they have started work on that side of it.  So it's a slow process with a lot of work involved in it.  It has been a huge boost for the people in the club"
