A woman who spent three years living in Direct Provision in Cork says she endured extremely challenging conditions during her time there.
Neo Gilson arrived in Ireland as an asylum seeker from South Africa and now lives in Passage West with her daughter
Speaking to RedFM News she says the most challenging aspect of life in Direct Provision was living under constant surveillance in a shared space, with little privacy or independence:
"The living conditions are difficult to live under, you're constantly under surveillance of security guards that are doing there rounds, and shared living spaces which can be quite difficult for people who come from all different cultures. A very, very difficult process to endure."
