A wolfdog who was reported missing from an open farm close to the city has died after being recaptured.
Axel the Czech Wolfdog went missing from Rumley's Open Farm in Waterfall on Thursday evening.
The 12-year-old dog was a mix between a German Shepard and a Carpathian Wolf and was described as very shy by the farm.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Vincent Cashman from the CSPCA in Cork says the wolfdog was captured in a yard in the last hour:
"I did manage to net the wolf. I would reckon the poor guys heart gave out, you know but I'd say between the age, restraint and it never happened before and the very fact that he was out to five days now at this stage, I'd say his poor heart gave out."
