Expressway Ireland’s inter-regional coach service is once again supporting Grow Mental Health by asking the public to wear YELLOW and get out walking, running, cycling, swimming, or hiking for 30 minutes to raise vital funds for mental health supports.

Grow Mental Health is one of Ireland’s longest-standing mental health charities, empowering and supporting over 1,000 people weekly.

Grow Mental Health was set up in 1969 in Ireland and is seeing a steady increase in members as the nation's mental health continues to meet challenges.

“This year’s event the #YELLOWWALK is all about coming together to recognise the mental health benefits of being outdoors, connecting with who and what matters to us, and supporting others,” says Eleanor Farrell, Chief Commercial Officer, Bus Éireann. “We are delighted to support the mental health conversation while walking alongside both our friends in Grow Mental Health and our own family members or friends.”

Michele Kerrigan, CEO of Grow Mental Health added, “The #YELLOWWALK is also about getting out in nature and celebrating the brightest, longest day of the year. The wearing of yellow marks the hope and positivity that the extra hours of sunlight bring, and it is a way of showing the strength of our collective efforts in Grow Mental Health support groups which operate weekly in towns and cities all over the country. We hope the #YELLOWWALK will also increase local awareness of our weekly groups among those who need our support most. We encourage people to make that all-important first contact with their local group.”

Grow Mental Health runs weekly peer support meetings in every county in Ireland. It is a community of people drawn together by first-hand experience of mental health problems. With over 50 years of experience in finding practical ways of helping each other recover from various forms of mental health challenges, they developed The Grow Program of Recovery.

The #YELLOWWALK is our chance to spread the Grow Mental Health message of Hope and Recovery to everyone who needs to hear it. Grow Mental Health and Expressway are asking you, your friends, co-workers, and family to join us this June 21st. Everyone in Ireland who is struggling with a mental health challenge deserves to know that there is a free, confidential Grow peer-support group nearby or online, just waiting to welcome and support them.
