Volunteers from Ballinhassig GAA club will walk 170 kilometres to Thurles ahead of their game in Tipperary.
The idea cooked up by a club stalwart Pascal Ryan will begin on Sunday the 28th of August. He recalled how Cork people would often walk and cycle to Thurles for Munster finals.
Each evening the club will play a game against each club on their route in an effort to connect communities.
Their route is as follows:
Day 1: Ballinhassig to Sarsfields
Day 2: Sarsfields to Bride Rovers
Day 3: Sarsfields to Glanworth
Day 4: Glanworth to Ballylanders
Day 5: Ballylanders to Cahir
Day 6: Cahir to Cashel
Day 7: Cashel to Thurles & on to Moyne Templetouhey
Volunteers are walking part (or all!) of the 170km journey from Ballinhassig to Tipp. If a full leg doesn’t suit, people are welcome to walk part of a leg.
