Hospitals across Cork have brought in visiting restrictions as flu cases continue to rise sharply.

Only one visitor per patient will be permitted during designated visiting times with surgical masks mandatory for all visitors of the Mercy University Hospital, Cork University Hospital and Bantry General Hospital.

The HSE says over 500 people are now hospitalised with flu nationwide, adding further strain to already busy Emergency Departments.
