The Tánaiste says the 15 percent tariff on pharma exports to the United States will not be in place for at least two weeks.
US President Donald Trump last night signed an executive order, meaning new tariffs on all other EU exports to America will take effect on August 7th.
Meanwhile, Cork Business Association says the tariffs, when they do come in, will not make pharmaceutical companies leave Cork.
20,000 people here in the city and county are currently employed in the sector, but CBA President Dave O'Brien, says they're not overly worried:
"We know Cork relies heavily on multi-nationals and pharma in particular so we are concerned about that. However, our view would be is that a 15% tariff will not force those companies that are based in Cork, out of Cork and out of the country."
