Cork researchers have found way to extend phone and laptop battery life by up to 50%.
Professor Cian Ó Mathúna at the Tyndall National Institute at UCC have developed a technology called MagIC.
It thought this could massively reduce energy use of high-performance electronic systems and equipment, as well as increase their battery life.
The Irish Examiner reports it could also be part of the solution to concerns about Ireland's data centres and their energy and emissions footprint.
