Two people have lost their lives in Cork following separate road traffic accidents yesterday.
A cyclist was killed following a road traffic collision in the city centre yesterday evening. The incident occurred at a junction on Albert street shortly before 6.30PM.
The road from Albert street towards the South City link road remains closed this morning - the road will remain closed until a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators can take place.
A man in his 40s has died after an accident in County Cork involving a dumper truck.
The accident involving a heavy goods vehicle happened on the L3633 Church Road at around half 3 yesterday afternoon.
The driver of the truck was carrying out works in the area when he was struck by his dumpster truck.
The man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
The Health and Safety Authority was notified and has attended the scene.
It will investigate the tragedy and the coroner has been made aware of the man's death.
