US President Donald Trump has announced Israel and Hamas have agreed the first phase of a US-backed peace plan for Gaza.
Under the terms of the deal, Israeli hostages still held in Gaza will be freed, in exchange for the release of some Palestinian prisoners.
The Israeli military say they're preparing "to lead the operation for the hostages’ return".
Meanwhile Tánaiste Simon Harris says his officials are in contact with Israeli authorities regarding 'next steps' for Irish citizens detained in the latest interception of flotilla boats headed for Gaza.
Independent TD Barry Henaghan and author Naoise Dolan are among five Irish citizens in the group who were stopped approximately 200 miles off Gaza.
Israel says they are safe and are being transferred to a port for deportation.
