The Irish Travel Agents Association is encouraging people to use their local airport such as Cork and Shannon as travel chaos is being reported at the weekends at Dublin airport
Ahead of the Easter break holidaymakers are being advised of long delays at Dublin with intending passengers being urged to allow three to fours hours before their flights for check in and to pass through security
Staff shortages at Dublin Airport were being blamed last weekend for the delays however the situation is expected to get worse as the Easter period is traditionally when the holiday season kicks off
Speaking to RedFM News Pat Dawson of the I.T.A.A says listeners should support Cork Airport in particular:
"Particularly here in Cork, which is certainly supported, the airport, because the more support it gets, the more choice will be put on. Now we've lost, sort of an aircraft and a half from Aer Lingus, which means there are 8 or 10 routes that we used to have that we don't have now, but look it will take a bit of time for the team in our Cork airport to get back those routes, and they will in time.
