Traders are welcoming 48 new Gardaí being allocated to the city.
A high visibility policing plan is beginning this week to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Speaking to RedFM News, Dave O’Brien from Cork Business Association says the increase in Garda presence will drive people into the city:
"People are maybe a little bit, don't want to come into the city and don't want to shop in the city. I think that's more perception than real life, but perception matters. We feel now with the number of Gardaí coming into the city, they will make it a safer place to be, and that will drive footfall into the town."
