Traders in the city say commercial rate hikes will cripple already struggling businesses.
The city council has approved a 5% increase in rates for commercial traders as part of its budget for 2026.
Speaking to RedFM News, Owner of Paddy the Farmers and Tequila Jacks Sean McCarthy says publicans who are already struggling are angry about the hike:
"and now the final straw for a lot of us is that the city council has announced rates to increase by 5% in January, which for us in an excess of €4,500 that we have to find. It's just really difficult and a lot of sad and angry people about the increase."
