Thousands of rugby fans are set to join the exodus from Dublin, Cork and Shannon Airports as the Bank Holiday Weekend gets underway.

Dublin Airport is expecting 340,000 passengers to travel through while Cork Airport is expecting 30 thousand passengers to use its facilities.

Both terminals at Dublin Airport will be busy as supporters head to France for Ireland's Six Nations' opener later this evening.

Communications Manager, Cork Airport Barry Holland says passenger traffic is up 22 per cent on the same time last year:

"We anticipate that 30,000 passengers will both arrive and depart from Cork Airport. That's a growth of 22% in passenger traffic, compared to St Brigid's Bank Holiday Weekend last year. We've seen some significant demand for winter sun, ski holidays and city break services since the start of the year”.
