Rents have hit an all time high, with a chronic shortage of rental properties to blame.

The latest Daft.ie report shows rental prices surged by 12.6% in the second three months of this year when compared to the same period last year.

It's the highest price rise since Daft first began compiling records 16 years ago.

With less than 24 hours remaining before a status yellow high temperature warning for Leinster and Munster takes effect a warning has been issued to remind people of the dangers of swimming in open water.

People are also being warned not be over confident in the water and to know their own limits.

A state watchdog has recovered over 12 million euro in unpaid wages from employers over the past five and a half years.

It's after over 29,000 inspections of businesses by the Workplace Relations Commission.

A fifth of the money has been returned to staff in the wholesale and retail sector.

The former Debenhams building in Cork City centre has gone on sale.

The Building, which had been occupied by Roches Stores for almost a century before being leased to Debenhams in 2006, has gone on the market with a guide price of €20 million euro according to the Irish Times.
