Two men were put on trial yesterday accused of the murder of man in Carrigaline. 29 year old Matt O'Neil of Glenwood in Carrigaline died after he was allegedly punched in the face and kicked in the head on the ground three days after Christmas in 2022.

21 year old Ricardo Hoey of 7 Ard Carrig, Carrigaline, Cork and 19 year old Jordan Deasy of 41 Ravensdale, Heronswood, Carrigaline both deny murdering Matt O’Neill.

A 10-day old rescue owl in England has been given a cuddly toy family. Sid, the baby tawny owl, was brought to Suffolk Owl Sanctuary after being found on the ground. Staff there say 'surrogate siblings' help to give comfort to single owlets in their care, as they would snuggle into their siblings for warmth and comfort in the nest.
