132 patients were without a bed at University Hospital Limerick on Monday, while 94 patients were on trolleys at Cork University Hospital yesterday.

Management at CUH yesterday urged people to avoid presenting at the hospital unless they have a “major health emergency” after a record number of people presented to the Emergency Department on Monday.

Speaking to RedFM News Colm Porter from the INMO says not enough is being done to ease the crisis

"The HSE and the government they have their head in their sand when it comes to the overcrowding crisis in our hospitals. It seems to me and the INMO that every year they are just expecting winter to come, winter will pass and then the whole process repeats again and again. It needs to be a wake up call"
