It's after new analysis from Sherry Fitzgerald showed home starts are back up at Celtic Tiger levels.
The building of over 30 thousand new homes got underway in 2021 according to the estate agent, with over half of those in the greater Dublin area.
The Autumn 2021 Residential Review foresees that the new home supply in urban areas such as Cork, Limerick and Galway will improve in the upcoming year.
Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien is hopeful 2022 will be a much better year for home completions:
"We had two years where supply was was greatly restricted because of COVID, obviously 2020, 2021. We made up some lost ground toward the end of last year. So I'll have figures in the coming weeks actually from the CSO, and my own department on housing completions for 2021. 2022 looks a lot better. We're going to be delivering affordable homes at scale this year for people."
