The Frank and Walters band have welcomed the positive spotlight Cork is enjoying at the moment
The band have been unveiled as the Grand Marshal of this year's Cork St Patrick's Day parade and it follows their recent Cork Person of the Year accolade
RedFM are media partners to the St Patrick's Day parade which this year will see over 3,000 participants and has Pure Imagination as it's theme
Oscar nominated actor Cillian Murphy gave the band a shout out during his appearance on the BBC's Desert Island Discs
Speaking to RedFM News drummer with the Franks Ashley Keating says their music featuring on the Young Offenders series led to a resurgence in their popularity
"The Young Offenders kind of kick started something alright and led to a lot of younger punters starting to come to see us you know. It's like that kind of 90s music is kind of getting a resurgence, obviously we had the 80s revival thing, so I think the 90s thing is happening now as well. So we'll just go as long as we can and just enjoy it"
